چکیده

Aim of the Visor Project [1] is to gather and make freely available a repository of surveillance and video footages for the research community on pattern recognition and multimedia retrieval. The goal is to create an open forum and a free repository to exchange, compare and discuss results of many problems in video surveillance and retrieval. Together with the videos, the repository contains metadata annotation, both manually annotated as ground-truth and automatically obtained by video surveillance systems. Annotation refers to a large ontology of concepts on surveillance and security related objects and events. The ontology has been defined including concepts from LSCOM and MediaMill ontologies. As well as videos and annotations, Visor provides tools for enriching the ontology, annotating new videos, searching by textual queries, composing and downloading videos.

Factors influencing visor use among players in the National Hockey League (NHL)

Eye, orbital, and facial injuries are significant risks to National Hockey League (NHL) players, and can be mitigated by the use of a partial visor - currently optional for all non-rookie players. The goal of the current study was to determine the overall use of visors among non-rookie NHL players in the 2013-2014 season and assess factors influencing their uptake. This was an observational, cr...

A motion descriptor based on statistics of optical flow orientations for action classification in video-surveillance

This work introduces a novel motion descriptor that enables human activity classification in video-surveillance applications. The method starts by computing a dense optical flow, providing instantaneous velocity information for every pixel. The obtained flow is then characterized by a per-frameorientation histogram, weighted by the norm, with orientations quantized to 32 principal directions. F...

Towards intelligent networked video surveillance for the detection of suspicious behaviours

Video camera surveillance is becoming increasingly pervasive in both outdoor city environments and indoor complexes. Indeed, it is reckoned that a central Londoner is captured on well over 300 videos on an average day. With the generation of this vast repository of visual data come the challenges of automated real-time detection of key events and retrieval of salient recorded information. The l...
